Tasting notes

Domaine de Nalys is rare for many reasons, not least because all 13 Châteauneuf varieties are grown here, giving its wines great complexity. Mentioned in local records as early as the 16th century, Nalys is one of the village's oldest estates. Its current fortunes, however, are due to Dr Philippe Dufays, who after World War II led its quality renaissance. (Tony Laithwaite knew him, and our longest standing Rhône winemaking friend André Roux was a disciple.)In 2010 Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and a smattering of other varieties were fermented, blended and barrel aged to make this wine. Its spicy brambly fruit flavours and liquorice and black olive notes make it delicious with gigôt d'agneau and Mediterranean roasted vegetables.
