Vintage port is only made in the finest years and it’s up to each individual house if they want to ‘declare’ a vintage. Christian Seely is the exceptional winemaker who has returned the superb port house of Quinta do Noval to its former glory. He has been at the helm for over 20 years, since AXA took ownership, and knows the nuances of each vineyard plot. He also has a most uncanny way of knowing which vintages will develop into greatness, which is why Noval had the confidence to declare 2016. It goes without saying that the wine is outstanding. Indeed, James Suckling describes it as "a truly classic Noval". It's a ripe and fruity wine – juicy and succulent yet also structured. Will greatly reward further cellaring for five to 50 years.

"When we declare a vintage port, we are saying this wine deserves to bear the Quinta do Noval label" Christian Seeley
