The Gabb family rose to prominence when patriarch Roger Gabb helped to spearhead the resurgence of South Africa’s wine industry. Although Roger made his fortune building some of the Cape’s best brands, the family ethos is now quality over quantity. They bought Mount Rozier in 2011, and with Roger’s son Rollo at the helm, they set about creating an environmentally sustainable, socially responsible estate. The cool climate vineyards only receive natural treatments and large areas of land are left uncultivated to encourage the local flora and fauna, as well as the Cape honey bee this wine is named after. This is a pure tasting, fruit first wine – all fruit with no oak. Serve with spicy couscous, creamy pork or a Thai seafood stir-fry.
