Jaime Quendera is the winemaker behind many of our best selling Portuguese reds. He's also the most important wine consultant of southern Portugal. He learnt from the best, working alongside João Portugal Ramos, another top name for wine in the country, after he graduated in 1994. He loves making wine in the Península de Setúbal - "it has history and tradition, distinct terroir, perfectly adapted grape varieties and winemaking know-how". Its poor sandy soils are also ideal, keeping the vines thirsty, so grapes are really concentrated. Fonte Real is named after the 'Royal Fountain' - stopping places for the royal entourage when they were on their way to a social events. Long aged in barrel, this smooth red is a top choice with hearty dishes.

"Velvety rich and weighty, yet with the ocean cooled Setúbal's classic freshness too. Great value red" Jehan Sacaze
