Quinta do Casal Branco Tinto Oak-Aged 2014

Tejo DOC

Our Portuguese range is recognised as one of the best in the UK. Here’s one reason why – Quinta do Casal Branco. It’s a fantastic find with sumptuous black fruit and mocha notes. And it is lovely and rounded, too, after oak ageing. Terrific value.

From renowned winemaker João Ramos, “one of the foremost figures in the regeneration of Portuguese wine” (Wine magazine), this is a luscious, velvet smooth red with bags of charm. It epitomises the terrific value and big fruit character that is intrinsic to modern Portuguese wine. Quinta do Casal Branco is a grand old estate near Lisbon that has been in the same family for 200 years. Even today, it is a favourite retreat of the Portuguese royal family. João combined three local varieties, notably Castelão, with international favourite Cabernet Sauvignon to produce a unique, spicy style. Six months’ ageing in French oak has added a sophisticated layer of complexity. Serve with roast red meats, a hearty casserole or homely shepherd’s pie.
