If you think you know Pinot Grigio, think again. You’ll be surprised by the citrus charged intensity of this delightful drop from from the Idyll winery in Victoria. The Costa family have been winemaking in Europe since the early 1700s. However, in the late 1800s, when phylloxera struck, the patriarch of the family was forced to try his luck in Australia. He only stayed a few years, but that left a family link. Fast forward to 2016, the family took ownership of Idyll Winery. Winemaker there today is Toby Wanklyn, who is master and capturing fruit and full freshness in his wines. Riper than European Pinot Grigio, its refreshing pear and citrus flavours have a tickle of spice, making it a great apéritif or match for fish, chicken or noodles.
