Pillastro Rosato 2016

Puglia IGP

Pillastro is one of our best loved Big Reds. It’s from the highly awarded Angelo Maci at Puglia’s Cantine Due Palme. We asked Angelo to create us a rosé, using the same characterful Primitivo. Fresh, floral with bright berry fruit – Puglian magic!

Angelo Maci is a leading figure in Puglia’s quality wine revolution of the last 20 years. Indeed, his cellar Cantine due Palme has twice been named ‘Winery of the Year’. He founded it in 1989 with the dream “to give pride and dignity back to Salento growers”. He’s also champion of the region’s traditional winemaking techniques, using them to create a great range of award winning wines. Every year he makes our bestselling Pillastro red from Primitivo and Negroamaro. Now he charms us with this pretty pink rosé. It’s pure Primitivo, picked early for freshness and the juice left briefly on skins for that vibrant pink hue. Carefully vinified, this wine offers a burst of summer berry fruit, light spice and refreshment. Great solo or with food.
