This superb, fourth generation estate not only make some of the appellation’s finest wines, the founder – Leonildo Pieropan Snr – invented Soave Recioto, a delicious, sweet wine using air-dried grapes. Within their 30 hectares of vines the family have three single vineyards, all Classico, one of which is Calvarino. The wine regularly gains top scores from all the critics. It's a delicious, delicately nuanced wine with ripe pear, herb, crushed oyster shell and white pepper notes, a complexity gained from the quality of the Garganega and Trebbiano grapes grown in this single vineyard. Up to 60 years old, the organic vines are tended with the utmost care. The wine shows terrific purity of fruit and intensity – savour with a fine fish dish.
