Petticoat White Zinfandel 2017

California

If you’re a rosé fan susceptible to the charms of fruity New World wines, Petticoat is a sure-fire hit. It’s made from California’s ‘original Zin’ (Zinfandel), a grape that produces dark, brooding, powerful reds, but also this cheeky, fresh pink.

Petticoat is loved for its easy to drink, fruit rich style reminiscent of watermelon and strawberries. And it stands out even more because grapes were left on the vine that little bit longer for a wonderful hint of sweetness. Zinfandel is California’s most widely planted red grape, providing the full gamut of styles from everyday drinking to fine, long lived wines. The quicker the skins of the crushed grapes are separated from the juice, the lighter the colour. Petticoat is a hue the Americans often refer to as ‘blush’. Skin contact was just long enough to allow in all the fruitiness of the grape but no drying tannins. Enjoy Petticoat chilled, on its own, or with crudités or something more substantial like grilled prawns with spicy salsa.

"Old favourite. So easy to drink. I would get lynched if I didn’t keep replenishing. I like it too!" Online Review
