A superb red that will appeal to lovers of both fine Italian wines and Bordeaux. It’s made by award winning Barolo producer Pier Paolo Monti, who founded his estate in 1996 in the heart of the Langhe hills. Having purchased several vineyards, he built a state of the art winery with separate, temperature controlled areas for each phase from fermentation to bottling, and extensive underground cellars for maturing the wines. He produces this unusual ‘Super Tuscan’ style red from Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes selected from his own vineyards. Each variety is matured in French oak for a year and then the final assemblage is matured in barrel for six months, to make this rich and complex red. A perfect match for roast red meats.
