Founded in 1932, Muga is no stranger to 100-point scores for its flagship Aro red, and also wins high marks for its whole range. It's a remarkable cellar, embracing the region’s greatest traditions and combining them with the best of modern technology, all with a gentle hand. They even have a master cooper and three barrel makers to obtain the perfect match of fruit and oak. Using all hand harvested grapes from older vineyard terraces with poorer soils, this 2012 has impressive intensity, as well as freshness from the coolness of the sites. Always a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano, this Rioja is aged in new oak barriques, then in older, neutral oak for a longer period. A superb taste of fine Rioja. Ideal with lamb.
