Morin Père et Fils has been a leading light in Burgundy since its foundation in 1822. Founder was Claude Morin, while his great grandson, Jean Morin, was one of the founders in 1934 of the famous Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, a brotherhood of Burgundy producers. The family’s wines were even served at the Elysée Palace in the time of President Charles de Gaulle. In 1987 the Boisset family invested in the estate and quality has risen yet higher. They produce the whole range – from single vineyard to the rather more affordable village blends. This Burgundy offers creamy, rounded, ripe stone fruit with underlying zip keeping it all in place, while lees ageing adds complexity. Only gently chill, and serve with roasted monkfish or salmon.
