It’s time to taste a legend. The inaugural vintage of Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon sent a seismic shock around the wine world, signalling Chile’s potential as a source of great value fine wines. This latest release maintains the noble tradition.
"Montes rarely misses the mark while making some of Chile’s most elegant reds"
Kim Marcus Wine Spectator
Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon is the envy of the wine world, and for the last 25 years Montes Alpha has been Chile’s benchmark. Indeed, in the late 1990s the first vintage Cabernet was named by Wine magazine as one of the world’s best 10 year old wines. It was the vision of Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre and Pedro Grand, four dedicated wine professionals who recognised Chile’s potential as a world class producer. They went about sourcing the finest hand harvested fruit, vinifying it in their state of the art cellar and treating it to a year in fine French oak. 29 years on, the approach remains the same, although they now source the fruit from their own, sustainably grown vineyards. Decant early and serve with fine roast beef.

Laithwaite's began in 1969, when geography student Tony Laithwaite took a job washing bottles in Bordeaux ...
and fell in love with wine and the people who make it. When he borrowed a van to share their delicious wines with
friends and neighbours at home, things went so well that hundreds of little wineries all around the world were soon
queuing to take part. Today we're the UK's No.1 home-delivery wine merchant, with over 1,500 wines to choose from
including red, white, rosé, Champagne, Prosecco, spirits ... you name it. Tony's still at it - and now really good
at washing bottles. Read more
