Miles From Nowhere Shiraz (187ml) 2016

Margaret River

Margaret River in Western Australia doesn’t do mass production – it’s far too small. This is fine wine country, usually the preserve of Bordeaux varieties, but this ripe, smoky, mocha and berry filled Shiraz shows it’s a top spot for this grape too.

Margaret River is renowned today as “one of the great wine regions of the world” (Sunday Times). The Leeuwin Current that flows along the coast ensures cool, even temperatures – so grapes ripen slowly and wines have that trademark Margaret River elegance. You’ll notice that in this red. Miles from Nowhere is the property of Franklin and Heather Tate. Know the name? Franklin is from ‘Evans & Tate’ – the Tates are a founding family of the Western Australia wine scene. He worked with his family until 2005, then set up on his own, still in the same region. The name is a reference to his ancestors’ long journey from Eastern Europe to Australia over a century ago. Rich, ripe and spicy, this red is a top choice with roast lamb or barbecued steak.

"Great region of Oz and great winemaking make this a must for your shopping list. Rich and rewarding" Dan Parrott
