McPherson Family Series Jock's Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

South Eastern Australia

The McPherson team know how to extract every bit of ripe juicy flavour from their Cabernet grapes, picking out the very best for this wine. Well, it is named after the great man’s dad, Jock. Hints of oaky spice perfectly complement the cassis fruit.

Named after Andrew McPherson’s entrepreneurial father Jock, this cracking Cabernet Sauvignon is bursting with dark spicy cassis. Andrew travelled the world designing wineries for other people before returning to Australia and joining forces with the prestigious Château Tahbilk, then establishing his own vineyards in Victoria, and building a cellar in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley. That’s where he made this deliciously fruity red, using small clusters of richly concentrated grapes sourced from the sunny vineyards around Mildura. This is a weighty red with lots of dense blackcurrant flavour flattered by spicy oak. A great winter warmer, it’s tasty with rare steak, lasagne or rich casseroles. In summer, it makes a great choice for a barbecue.

"We really loved this Cabernet Sauvignon. Slightly less robust than Shiraz. Made an excellent change" Online Review
