This Rioja Crianza offers an ideal balance of gentle oak and exuberant fruit, so moreish you’ll be very pleased it comes in truly magnificent jeroboam size (5 litres). The wine is from the Manzanos brothers, an innovative pair of fifth generation winemakers. 2002 saw completion of a new winery, and the talented Borja Ripa is employed as winemaker. This fine Crianza comprises half Tempranillo from their 50-year-old vines, ensuring gorgeous berry fruit intensity. The Graciano component is from higher altitude vines from poor soils for bright fruit elegance, while the Garnacha fills it out with dark raspberry flavour. 18 months’ ageing in new and second year French and US oak lends a luxurious touch of toasty vanilla and firm tannins.
