Barolo star Claudio Manera mostly focuses his winemaking skills on impressive, ageworthy Piedmont reds, but here he shows just how well he can make elegant, crisp pinks, too. Not surprisingly, Claudio turned to the grapes that go into the region’s most famous (and pricey) reds to make this wine. He bases this rosé on silky, fruit filled Barbera with a sizeable portion of intensely aromatic Nebbiolo grapes. A gentle pressing of both draws out a delicate, pale salmon colour and elegant berry flavour. This rosato is bursting with ripe, red berry aromas, along with bright strawberry and cherry notes and a crisp acidity. A versatile wine, perfect for enjoying solo or served alongside grilled salmon, chicken or vegetable and haloumi kebabs.
