Manera Rosato 2017

Piemonte DOC

From award winning Barolo producer Claudio Manera, this bright, fruity rosé brims with delicious, ripe, summer berry charm. It proves that the misty mountain foothills of Piedmont are not only home to very fine reds but to stylish rosés as well.

Barolo star Claudio Manera mostly focuses his winemaking skills on impressive, ageworthy Piedmont reds, but here he shows just how well he can make elegant, crisp pinks, too. Not surprisingly, Claudio turned to the grapes that go into the region’s most famous (and pricey) reds to make this wine. He bases this rosé on silky, fruit filled Barbera with a sizeable portion of intensely aromatic Nebbiolo grapes. A gentle pressing of both draws out a delicate, pale salmon colour and elegant berry flavour. This rosato bursts with ripe, red berry aromas, followed by delicate strawberry and cherry notes. It’s a versatile wine, perfect for enjoying solo as a classy aperitivo, or served alongside grilled salmon, chicken or vegetable and haloumi kebabs.
