There is no question you would pay more for this Gold medal Sauvignon if it were dressed in its usual posh winery label. But part of the deal was that we keep shtum as to its precise origins. Just enjoy one of New Zealand’s greatest while you can!
"Lovely Marlborough white. I love NZ white wines and this one tastes so good I ordered another case"
Online Review For the 2016 vintage
This is a dazzling Marlborough Sauvignon from a hugely acclaimed, award winning winery. But even top estates occasionally have a vat or two surplus to requirements, be that due to a bumper harvest, a cancelled order, or the need to accommodate a new vintage. Either way, our Buyer Dan springs into action when such an opportunity arises. Under its normal label this super Sauvignon sells for a hefty premium (this vintage has already won a Gold medal), so to protect that position, we’re sworn to secrecy. But if you’re a Kiwi wine fan, you’ll recognise, from the gooseberry and tropical fruit aromas to the lime, guava and passion fruit flavours, that there is an intensity and purity here that you only find among Marlborough’s elite Sauvignons.

Laithwaite's began in 1969, when geography student Tony Laithwaite took a job washing bottles in Bordeaux ...
and fell in love with wine and the people who make it. When he borrowed a van to share their delicious wines with
friends and neighbours at home, things went so well that hundreds of little wineries all around the world were soon
queuing to take part. Today we're the UK's No.1 home-delivery wine merchant, with over 1,500 wines to choose from
including red, white, rosé, Champagne, Prosecco, spirits ... you name it. Tony's still at it - and now really good
at washing bottles. Read more
