At 16%, this is a rich, dark, velvety Cabernet Shiraz. It’s typical of the power and depth you find in top-flight reds from the McLaren Vale. A leftover parcel, our Buyer Dan snaffled it up fast – densely textured and weighty with a chocolatey edge.

It pays dividends having a buyer stationed right in the centre of the vineyards of Oz. It means that when a parcel this good comes up for grabs, our man Dan is there to swoop fast. Cellars are already bringing in the 2019 vintage, so this winery was keen to move a few casks of this class act 2017. It is 16%, so too hefty for some perhaps. Not for our customers, though, who prefer the weightier style. This Limited Release red perfectly shows off the class of top quality McLaren Vale wines. It’s richly textured, almost chewy, with dense ripe blackberry, plum, raspberry and cassis, dark chocolate and spice hints, and notes from the oak. Still velvety and smooth with a firm structure of tannins. Perfect, in fact, now or in a couple of years.
