Chat with Vinny
Clairette was once a favourite of Louis XIV’s but has since been largely forgotten. Hidden in the hills of the Languedoc Roussillon (aka ‘the Midi’) lies the historic and tiny region of Cabrières. Barely covering 100ha, it was the Midi’s second region to be granted AOC, the official stamp of quality. One of its star white grapes is Clairette, a variety permitted in Châteauneuf du Pape's pricey reds! Here it proudly stands alone, something of a rarity. Our buyer, Mark Hoddy, made a chance discovery of this refreshing white at his local bar, close to Cabrières. He sampled a glass and, impressed, set off, hot foot, to talk to the cellar. You'll love this refreshing white, with its floral aromas, fleshy white fruit and zing of citrus.
