For classic Loire Sauvignon with grassy, citrus elegance, you won’t do better than this flagship white. It’s from the Bougrier family estate and crafted by sixth generation winemaker Noel. With two Golds, this an excellent alternative to Sancerre.

We’ve been delighted to work with the Bougrier family in the Loire’s Touraine for over 20 years now. Their wines offer both exceptional class and excellent value. One of their most classic is Le Grand Maré – their flagship Touraine Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards close to the Loire’s Central Vineyards and the pricey appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. Taking their finest quality grapes of the vintage, carefully cool fermenting the juice and lees ageing the wine for creamy complexity, this white has brilliant freshness and satisfying weight, while the quality of 2018 adds lovely ripeness. Highly recommended with seafood dishes, warm goat’s cheese salad or a creamy spring vegetable risotto. It makes a most elegant aperitif, too.
