Malbec is “Argentina’s calling card” (Financial Times) but rarely is it seen as a gorgeous pink. That’s set to change with this irresistibly fruity example – a very pleasing balance of crisp red berry character and vibrant freshness. Truly charming.
Tasting notes
Smooth layers of red berry fruit with a super-fresh finish
Aroma
Freshly cut strawberries, violets, cloves, cracked black pepper
With its lovely deep colour, ripe fruit and appetising zing, this is a scintillating Argentine rosé. Well, it is made from the country’s best loved grape, Malbec, which has achieved enormous popularity thanks to Argentina’s superb quality wines. La Porteña is named after another Argentine triumph – its first locomotive, built in Leeds in 1857 and shipped over in time for the opening of the Buenos Aires Western Railway. Thus began one of South America’s most extensive railway networks, soon to play a key role in transporting cargoes of wine to Buenos Aires for bottling. Our Malbec rosé is deliciously fresh with ripe summer berry fruit and a zesty citrus freshness. Enjoy chilled as an apéritif or with fish dishes, chicken or a Thai salad.
