La Nuit Blanche Cabernet Blanc 2019

Vin de France

An exciting, innovative white from southern France. Brothers François and Vincent Pugibet fell in love with the Cabernet Blanc grape and planted it. White skins, white flesh, the grape has produced gorgeous creamy apricot fruit and lovely freshness.

Southern French Buyer Mark Hoddy is always on the look out for something new to dazzle your taste buds. He discovered the Pugibet brothers, François and Vincent, growing a few rows of Cabernet Blanc at their 19th century family estate in the Languedoc. They had been working with Swiss and German ampelographers to trial this variety. Making white wine from red grapes is always tricky because of the colour, so they had cultivated a Cabernet variety with white skins and white flesh. It's a real hit – lending lovely texture to the wine, as well as appealing, bright apricot and apple fruit with underlying mineral freshness. Lees aged, it has a lovely creaminess too. Gently chill and serve on its own or with creamy chicken, salmon or noodles.
