La Nantaise Réserve 2016

Muscadet AOC

With piercing crisp lemon fruit and a bracing tang of the sea, Muscadet is one of France’s most distinctive and refreshing whites. This Réserve cuvée was crafted from the pick of the small but excellent 2016 vintage and lees-aged for added richness.

If you want crisp, dry and refreshing in a wine, you can’t do better than Muscadet. And having in the past lost out to the New World, its winemakers are working extremely hard to win consumers back. Quality and value have never been better. Robert Parker described this appellation’s wines as “probably the world’s greatest white wine value”, while wine writer Hugh Johnson said “I can think of nothing more refreshing”. The region is the most westerly in the Loire, closest to the Atlantic, so its wines always seem to hint of the sea. You’ll taste that in this delicious Réserve white from fourth generation winemaker Noël Bougrier, who added a portion of lees-aged wine for extra complexity. Chill down and serve with seafood or light salads.
