Château Montrose may be the youngest Cru Classé of Saint-Estèphe, created from land bordering Château Calon-Ségur at the start of the 19th century, but it's one of its top stars. With beautifully situated vineyards and well-equipped, impeccably clean cellars, it is a modest château, with views over the Gironde. This, their second wine, is made from the grapes of the château’s younger vines, the fruit of which is excellent, but may lack a little of the intensity of the older plots. James Suckling awarded La Dame an impressive 93 points, describing it as " Juicy and pleasantly chewy with milk chocolate, walnut and currant aromas and flavors. Creamy and flavorful". 2019 was another great vintage, with lovely ripeness. This wine cellar well.
