Chat with Vinny
This is a terrific, big, spicy red using parcels of Shiraz from a selection of top performing wine regions across the underbelly of Oz. Crafted by maestro Bob Berton at his family estate, it’s densely fruity with lush liquorice and smoky spice.
Tasting notes
Spicy blackberry and damson flavours with vanilla oak and liquorice
Aroma
Plum, blackcurrant, cracked pepper and vanilla
Do you enjoy an arresting glass of luscious blackberry fruit and smoky spice with gentle grip? Then we’d highly recommend Bob Berton’s Kelly Country. It’s named after local outlaw Ned Kelly who in 1880 made his famous last stand in Glenrowan, Victoria, the original home of this perennial favourite. 2017 was a particularly warm vintage in Oz and, this year, Bob selected Shiraz from vineyards close to home in Riverina, as well as further afield in northern Victoria. He fermented each parcel separately before blending and maturing the wine in American oak casks to lend the upfront, weighty fruit a boost of sweetly scented vanilla oak. Let it breathe first, then enjoy this satisfying red with roast lamb, peppered steak, venison or a casserole.
