Jean Cavaillé Apremont Cep Noir Vieilles Vignes 2019

Vin de Savoie AOP

Elegant, citrusy and aromatic, with a flinty minerality – that’s the magic of the Jacquère grape! From a top Savoie Cru, this cuvée is bright and light on its feet, with an aromatic complexity coming from old-vine fruit. An Alpine wine to savour.

Here's a wine born of a Covid mountain rescue! Fourth generation winemaker Jean Cavaillé usually keeps this crisp, Alpine-fresh delight close to home, where the ski-mad locals worship its dance-on-your-tongue freshness (particularly during Après Ski!). Through the pandemic, there’s been no skiing, of course, so local sales have plummeted. And we finally get a chance to share it with you! Made from concentrated old-vine Jacquère, a regional star that is "sculpted by fresh, sappy acidity", and "whispers stone rather than singing fruit"(Decanter). An exciting, floral, flinty white, pepped by spice, and with additional roundness from eight months lees ageing. Zesty fresh, it pairs well with Asian cuisine or an Alpine-authentic cheese fondu.

"A rare chance to enjoy Savoie's crisp Jacquère grape, from premium Apremont and old vines" Sarah Everden
