With a wine history dating back 6,500 years, 300 indigenous grapes and ideal microclimates, Greece's comeback onto the world stage is way overdue. We celebrate it here with this great red. Xinomavro is a top red grape, producing robust, ageworthy wines in the pricy region of Naoussa. However, just to the west, surrounded by mountains, lies Amyndeon, an appellation that focuses solely on this grape. Lying at 550m upward, its vineyards enjoy pure daytime sun and cold nights, even in summer, which produce a real freshness in the wines. You'll taste that in the delectable Invicta, made by top Greek winemaker Pavlos Argyropoulos, now with his own cellar in Amyndeon. Aged 5 months in barrel and a year in bottle, this is a silky, fruit-filled red.
