Since its foundation in 2002, the Chakana estate has soared to success. This is no accident, but thanks to hard work, notably in the vineyard. Responsible for their vines is Argentina’s finest viticulturalist, Pedro Parra, while Italy’s renowned Alberto Antonini is consultant. Their favourite grape is Malbec, which revels in the warmth of Argentina, producing wine with velvety ripe fruit. Inca Tree is a classic from premium Mendoza. The jaguar on the bottle pays tribute to local folklore. This animal was sacred to the Incas and sightings of the elusive big cat were believed to give the beholder a higher understanding of the world. We can’t make such claims for the wine, but, if you like rich, plummy reds with freshness, you’ll love this.
