This has to be one of Italy’s most beguiling neon pink rosatos – great value and consistently delicious each year. How do we do it? It’s all down to Papavero maestro Scipione Giuliani. Most Italian winemakers are fiercely proud of their region, but Scipione is fiercely proud of Italy and hugely passionate about delivering best quality and value. As he can’t choose the weather for each vintage, he chooses instead the ‘luckiest’ regions for the ripest, tastiest grapes – giving Il Papavero wines what we call the ‘Poppy factor’. So, here’s Scipi’s 2015 selection from the high, breezy hills above the Sicilian coastline. An irresistible, crisply fruity apéritif that’s great with food, too – from cold salmon to chicken, prawns to pea risotto.
