Il Papavero Papaverone 2016

Sicilia IGT

Amarone is the northern Italian classic red wine that commands lifelong allegiances and huge prices. This wine is made in the very same painstaking way, but uses southern Italian grapes to create a wine every bit as rich but much juicier and riper.

Amarone, the Grand Cru version of Valpolicella, is the inspiration behind the limited edition Papaverone. Maestro Scipione Giuliani has created this fine wine version of Il Papavero by meticulously selecting the highest quality Sicilian grapes and air drying them prior to crushing and fermentation. The extra concentrated juice translates into a wine of deep colour and rare concentration. A fifth generation winemaker (and quintessential gent), ‘Scipi’ is the mastermind behind all of our bestselling Papavero range of wines. But this is the one that really showcases his winemaking skills better than any other. Rich texture and layer upon layer of dark cherry and spiced plum flavours. Enjoy with roast rack of lamb or a hearty casserole.
