If you enjoy steely dry whites, remember that Riesling produces arguably “the finest white wines of all” (Jancis Robinson MW). Judging by this classic, the great grape of Germany is clearly right at home in Marlborough, New Zealand. 30 years ago Marlborough was known only for barley and sheep. The success story of this remote wine region is one of the most remarkable in modern times, and one in which Hunter’s have played a major part. Today the estate is run by Jane Hunter, a most able viticulturist with many accolades for her excellent work, including a ‘UK Women in Wine Award’ and an OBE. With citrus, spicy apple and floral aromas, and zesty lime flavours, this 2017 is ravishingly fresh on its own, or with seafood or spicy Asian cuisine.

"Concentrated core of lime and lemon with white florals, hints of honeysuckle and mineral nuances" Raymond Chan
