Duncan Savage is one of South Africa's leading winemakers. A purist, he wants his wines to sing of their soil, their climate and the grape. This Coastal Syrah is a fine tribute to a great grower. Pure fruit elegance, with the subtlest of oak.

Critic Tim Atkin MW said of this winemaker, "Duncan Savage thinks he hasn’t hit his full potential yet. Heaven help his rivals when he does." Duncan first made his reputation at the top South African estate, Cape Point, showing the world that the winery's cool, wind buffeted headland with its scrabbly, granite soils made magnificent wines with real elegance and freshness. After 14 years winning rave reviews there, Duncan went out on his own. He set up a tiny winery in the centre of Cape Town, sourcing his grapes from top growers, his mates. One of his best mates was larger than life Boetie (Afrikaans for little brother). He sadly died in 2018 and this wine – from his extreme coastal vineyard - is a tribute to the great man and grower.
