The Burge family have been devoted vignerons in the Barossa since 1865, learning the secrets of the soil and the individuality of the terroir. Today the estate is run by the fifth generation and Grant Burge has a worldwide reputation for producing some of the greatest wines of the Barossa. Filsell Shiraz flies the flag for them. All the grapes come from the near-century-old Filsell vineyard, considered one of the best sites in the Barossa. It produces fruit of incredible intensity and concentration, particularly in the very dry 2019 vintage. Great care in the vineyard means the fruit is so good that it only needs "polishing and shaping" in the cellar, says winemaker Craig Stansborough. Barrel matured, this wine will go the distance. Decant.
