The Frapin family have been in Segonzac, southwest France, since 1270. Initially they were wine growers but for the last 20 generations they’ve been distillers too. Their most famous family member is François Rabelais, the writer. The family’s 240 hectares of vines are in Grande Champagne, the official Premier Cru de Cognac. It’s so called because the chalky soil is identical to that found in Reims. Cognac gains its signature warm colour and aromas through ageing in new and old Limousin oak casks, all stored in humid conditions to allow the 'angel share' to escape and flavours to concentrate. Frapin suggests leaving your bottle of VSOP in the freezer, for a chilled tipple, although it works equally well as a warming glass on a cold evening.

"The quintessential expression of the Frapin style. Enjoy as an apéritif, or during or after dinner" Patrice Piveteau
