With a family bodega in Rioja, Javier Murúa is well placed to supply us with occasional parcels of under the radar quality wine like Finca las Rejas. It’s a great value, supple Tempranillo that’s jam packed with irresistible red berry flavour.
"This is lush. Let it breathe an hour, have something spicy for dinner, and wow, this wine shines"
If you’re fond of Spain’s silky, mid-weight reds with that characteristic smooth, red berry fruit, then Finca las Rejas is for you. It’s an exclusive cuvée made for us by the multi talented Julían and Javier Murúa, the father and son duo behind our No.1 Rioja Barón de Barbón. The family have vineyards and contacts throughout Spain, and with each vintage, Javier likes to cherry pick any spare parcels of Tempranillo to craft into lush, easy drinking Finca las Rejas. As you’ll realise from your very first sip, it knocks the spots off lesser ‘tintos’. Its irresistible soft red fruit flavours are lifted by a pleasingly freshness. Serve to good friends on its own, with tapas (garlic mushrooms or bruschetta), or chicken with roasted vegetables.
