Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been a well regarded estate. Yet since the Chapoutiers have come on board the quality has become even higher. The Ferraton family started working with Michel Chapoutier in 1998, the latter buying the estate outright in 2004, but running it as an independent concern, with the family still very much at the helm. Oenologist Damien Brisset is also part of the domaine’s ‘super team’, and the result is some really impressive wines. Add in the 5-Star quality of the 2016 vintage and grapes produced to the highest biodynamic standards, and you’ll understand the sumptuous brilliance you can look forward to. Pure Syrah, part oak aged, silky, dense and long. Still young, the wine is best decanted beforehand.
