Berton The Barbarian Rosé 2017

South Eastern Australia

Bob Berton makes some of our most popular Aussie reds, The Barbarian among them. He’s now created a rosé sibling using the same Shiraz grape, but taking the juice off its skins and fermenting it so it’s stormingly fresh and terrifically fruity.

If you’re looking for a fruit packed, well made Aussie rosé, great on its own and fantastic with food, you’d be hard pushed to do better than this. The Barbarian is pure Shiraz, that byword for Aussie drinkability, and it’s from the Riverina veteran Bob Berton. Despite his rough and ready image – think ponytail, beard and Harley-Davidson – Bob is a highly skilled winemaker. He’s spent decades honing his craft and our customers adore his entire range, from his everyday gluggers to his high end specials. With this wine, Bob finds the perfect middle ground between the lean, food friendly pinks of Provence and the massive fruit bombs from California. It’s a great apéritif – or match with chicken salads, oriental foods or seared tuna steaks.

"Lovely fruity wine. Has to be the best rosé I have tasted in a long while" Online Review
