Escudo de Oro Organic Muscat 2021

Vino Blanco

They say Muscat is the only wine that actually tastes of grapes, and in the case of Escudo de Oro it’s a zesty mouthful of cool, crisp, freshly picked grapes. One of the most dazzling, aromatic and refreshing whites you’re likely to try this year.

A glass of Muscat has been likened to a breath of early summer freshness. Oz Clarke is a fan, praising Muscat for its “very fresh, fragrant, blossomy beauty” that “fills the glass with the heady scents of summer ripeness”. Escudo de Oro certainly lives up to this variety’s reputation for being uplifting refreshment. Indeed, this wine is so brilliantly crisp that it’s hard to believe it is from baking hot central Spain. However, as our Buyer Beth explains, “At an altitude of 830 metres, hot days turn into cool, fresh nights, prolonging the ripening period of the grapes. This in turn makes for more pronounced aromas and bright, crisp fruit flavours.” Serve well chilled, as a glass on its own or with spicy Thai dishes of fishcakes or stir-fry.

"Aromatic florals, beautifully balanced, and unbelievable value - this is rather good!" 5 Star Online Review
