Portugal’s star winemaker Jamie Quendera worked with a fourth generation family estate – the most awarded winery in the country – to craft this rich, fruit laden, five Golds red. Unusually all Alicante Bouschet, it offers lavish, supple black fruit.

More information
Portugal is renowned for its amazing range of unique grape varieties that give rise to some exceptionally flavoursome wines. Take this fabulous Alicante Bouschet Reserva. It comes from a fourth generation winery in Palmela in the Setúbal Peninsula that is the most awarded in Portugal. Indeed, this wine, just released, already has five Golds. The owner there is Ermelinda Freitas, who received the Order of Merit for her contribution to the Portuguese wine industry. Daughter Leonor is following in her footsteps. Their winemaker is Parker rated Jaime Quendera, who works hard to bring out the gorgeous ripe flavours of the grapes. Concentration comes naturally in the sandy soils and breezy conditions. Partner this rich red with hearty dishes.
