More information
Gigondas is a little village nestled high in the hills of the southern Rhône, and gives its name to one of the region’s best reds. As Jancis Robinson MW notes, the southern Rhône offers “excellent value – the best wines are remarkably similar to Châteauneuf du Pape.” L’Argnée is from the Perrin family, owners of Château de Beaucastel, the flagship estate of the southern Rhône, dating back to 1549. This is their finest cuvée of Gigondas. A believer in biodynamic viticulture, Marc Perrin selected the grapes from a small parcel of 130 year old vines grown on deep sand that gives the Grenache a wonderful floral character. It’s no lightweight either: great for drinking now, it’ll stay sensational for a few years yet. Perfect for fine roast beef.
