Beaujolais today is one of France's trendiest regions. Its wines are delicious, appealing and exciting. And Morgon is one of its most sought-after Cru villages. A 'climat' is the closest Beaujolais gets to Burgundy's Grand Cru system and Dominique Piron's Les Charmes really lives up to its name. With his 30+ hectares in Morgon (plus another 60 throughout the rest of the region), Piron is something of a specialist. With no children of his own, he has joined up with his good friend Julien Revillon and together they have a vision to produce Beaujolais as fine as any Grand Cru Burgundy. Grown on the sandstone and granite soils of the Les Charmes lieu-dit, this red is fresh with raspberry fruit and silky. Superb with duck or butternut risotto.
