Domaines Schlumberger S de Schlumberger 2018

Alsace AOP

From an outstanding 1810 Alsace estate, this is a vivacious, mouthfilling Pinot blend – Gris, Blanc and Noir! The Guebwiller vineyards have long been renowned for their delicate, long-lived wines and this peachy, fruit driven 2018 certainly delivers.

This fine estate was founded in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger, who planted vineyards on the slopes above the village of Guebwiller (the only town in Alsace which has 4 Grands Crus classés). Over its 200-year history, Schlumberger has since grown to be one of France's finest properties. It has extensive holdings – 180 hectares of vines, with an 80% share in three of Alsace's greatest Grand Cru sites. The 6th and 7th generations now run the estate. Their 'S' range has been created as a ‘grand tour’ of the prestigious vineyards in the region. Matured on lees for a wonderful creamy note, this white is beautifully balanced and harmonious. Pour, chilled, into large glasses and savour the quality solo, or pair with Gravlax or mushrooms on toast.

"In 2019 this team were listed as one of France's 'Top 100 Producers'. You'll taste that quality here" Sarah Everden
