Faugères AOP

Paul and Isla Gordon have been making waves since they bought Domaine la Sarabande in 2009. It lies in Faugères, a top Languedoc region with ideal conditions for making great reds. Misterioso is just that – gorgeous rich fruit and herbal spice depth.

Close to the mountains and to the sea, Faugères is one of the most exciting appellations of the Languedoc. Its wines, mostly red, should be top of the list for exploring. That’s what Australian Paul Gordon and his Irish wife, Isla, thought when searching for a domaine. They’d met at Isabel Estate in New Zealand, where Isla was back packing and Paul was learning about winemaking. He’d caught the wine bug during a stint in London. Today they dedicate themselves to their 8 hectares of organic vines just outside the Faugères village of Autignac. They work meticulously in the vineyard, pick by hand, yeasts are natural, their wines a labour of love. Taste all that in this full ripe red that'll hit the mark with roast meats or spicy hotpot.
