Vincent Paris is one of the most exciting young star winemakers of the northern Rhône. He is nephew to Robert Michel, but broke away to create his own domaine in 1997. Vincent established a winery and vineyards in Cornas and grows mostly Syrah. However, he has a north facing vineyard that serves much better for white grapes, lending them a refreshing bite and minerality. That’s exactly what you have with this superb white – labelled a humble Ardèche country white, but only because it falls outside appellation rules. It’s two thirds Viognier, the star of Condrieu fame, and a third Roussanne, fermented cool, lees stirred and bottled young. It is brilliant, fresh, characterful and grippy – a white that will benefit from ageing if you can wait.

"It may say IGP on the label, but this is a magnificent Cru white, using the Rhône’s top white grapes" Jehan Sacaze
