Domaine Michel Thomas is a small, family run property of just 17 hectares in the Sancerre commune of Sury en Vaux. Their wines consistently out-perform their peers and have won over 45 awards in the last decade alone. The estate’s silex vineyards enjoy a perfect, sunny aspect and are littered with pieces of flint, said to imbue the wine with hallmark ‘pierre à fusil’ or gun-flint aromas. Meticulous grape selection and traditional winemaking have produced in this top vintage wine a beautifully ripe yet crisp, mineral style with beguiling complexity. The wine was bottled unfiltered for extra flavour, therefore a light, natural deposit may appear in the bottle. Simply let it stand for a few hours, then enjoy with seafood or goat’s cheese.
