From a father and son with an absolute passion for their vines, this is a vibrant, mineral, thoroughbred classic from Central Loire. It is, of course, Sancerre – the world’s greatest expression of Sauvignon, a wine of superb elegance and complexity.
"Excellent! One of our favourites – our Christmas Day treat. 5-Stars"
Online Review For the 2016 vintage
With a host of top awards, the Michel Thomas estate is clearly making some of Sancerre’s finest wines. It’s been two decades since we introduced this white to our customers and it’s still a bestseller. The small, family run property is in the commune of Sury en Vaux near the town of Sancerre. The estate’s sloping, chalk-rich vineyards enjoy the best possible aspect to the sun, and this and their meticulous vine management ensure their Sauvignon grapes always display great intensity of flavour. Michel’s son Laurent has crafted a superb, focused, citrus charged wine in the intensely flavoured and ripe 2018 vintage. The perfect balance between ripeness and crisp acidity makes this an excellent dinner party white, with seafood or goat’s cheese.

Laithwaite's began in 1969, when geography student Tony Laithwaite took a job washing bottles in Bordeaux ...
and fell in love with wine and the people who make it. When he borrowed a van to share their delicious wines with
friends and neighbours at home, things went so well that hundreds of little wineries all around the world were soon
queuing to take part. Today we're the UK's No.1 home-delivery wine merchant, with over 1,500 wines to choose from
including red, white, rosé, Champagne, Prosecco, spirits ... you name it. Tony's still at it - and now really good
at washing bottles. Read more
