Domaine La Roche Blanc 2010

Pessac-Leognan AOC

A rare treat – a white Bordeaux with seven years’ maturity and still in the prime of life! Well it is from Bordeaux’s top appellation for whites, Pessac Léognan, and is made with exacting care. Cask aged, it’s dry with complex, honeyed citrus fruit.

Already property owners in the Graves, José and Brigitte Rodrigues-Lalande in 2004 bought the beautiful Domaine La Roche. With its 8 hectares of vineyard, it lies in Martillac, in Bordeaux’s prized region of Pessac-Léognan, right next door to some of the grandest names of this highly reputed area (Latour Martillac and Malartic Lagravière to name two). They invested in the cellar, lavished care on the 20 year old vines and have won prizes in international competitions for both their red and white wines. Now they are joined by their daughter, Léa. Mostly made from near equal portions of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, and aged for 10 months in French oak, this is a very fine and elegant white with rare maturity. Salmon en croûte would be ideal.
