Joel Hudelot-Baillet took over from his father Paul Hudelot in 1981, the domaine having originally been established several years earlier. Joel retired in 2004, making way for his son-in-law Dominique Leguen, originally a Breton, who had been working at the domaine since 1998.The vines are on average 60 to 75 years old. Dominique ages this wine in a third new oak, a third one-year old barrels, and a third two-year old barrelsDominique employs the “lutte raisonée” system in the vineyard meaning less chemicals are used and less often than conventional growersDominique has elevated the quality of the domaine and has been described by illustrious neighbours in Chambolle as a ‘vigneron to watch’. A dark fruit style framed excellently by complexed oak. There is a refreshing acidity that keeps the wine balanced and beautifully textured tannins delight on the back end.
